Online Entrance & Exit Counseling
The new online Entrance and Exit Counseling tool provides many new features for financial aid personnel including control over school registration settings and several reporting options. The registration tool available in the AES School Portal allows you to register as a new school participant or to view or change your current options. The tool also allows schools to:
- List a contact name, phone number and email address that will be displayed to the student at the conclusion of the counseling session;
- Choose from a variety of notification methods including email (real-time or daily batch) where you can list up to three email addresses, Web file transmissions where AES will place a file into your Web File Transmissions mailbox, or no notification;
- Choose whether to use AES Counseling or send students to Mapping Your Future for their counseling;
- Choose whether students will be quizzed during their counseling sessions; and,
- Choose whether students completing their MPN should complete online loan counseling first before continuing with the AES online Stafford MPN process.
The Loan Counseling Reports tool available to schools through the AES School Portal provides a way to view complete Entrance or Exit Counseling records, search records and transfer a copy to your school code, or download records through a comma-separated, tab-delimited, or fixed-width file, or through a special Powerfaids file format.
The online Entrance and Exit Counseling session that your students will use has a clean, user-friendly interface with very little to distract the student from the main purpose of the tool: to educate student borrowers. It speaks honestly to the student about what they can expect throughout the life of their loan, the types of help available for coping with student loan debt, and the potential consequences of default. The session allows users to complete both FFELP and Perkins loan counseling through our partners.
Our new Spanish version of online Entrance and Exit Counseling is now available, as well. It contains all of the same information as the English version, translated by our Spanish-speaking experts.
The online counseling tool interfaces with other AES products and services such as the AES Online MPN application process and YouCanDealWithIt.com, to provide your students with access to all of the information they need when dealing with student debt.
